The final show of Act 1 at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013 Day 2 was presented by acclaimed design label Nickie Nina who showcased their Spring/Summer prét-a-porter collection titled ‘Swinging Byzantium’. As the name suggests, the label had drawn inspiration from Byzantine and Medieval heraldry coupled with the 1960′s Mod movement. Featuring colors such as gold, black, burnt orange, poppy red, lemon zest, Monaco blue and royal blue nectarine, the collection was based in rich fabrics such as silk, net, Chantilly lace with digital prints, block prints and stone and swarovski crystal embellishments. Fashion designer Ayesha Farook Hashwani’s ‘Cruise Collection 2013’ was the third prét show on PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013 Day 2. Based on the upcoming holiday season, the designer channeled glamorous separates this season in bright tones paired with appliqued, embroidered and printed trousers. Based in fabrics from cottons to silks and chiffon’s, Ayesha had used a vibrant color palette including canary yellow, lime, tangerine, fuchsia, teal to shaded fabrics. Somal Halepoto showcased her Spring/Summer prét-a-porter collection titled ‘Bahaar’ on the second day of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013. The collection drew inspiration from the spring season itself while also reflecting the vulnerable daintiness as reflected in the beauty of a woman. With this collection, Somal worked across fabrics such as silks and satins with cuts being an inter-fusion of Western and Eastern silhouettes with handmade embellishments and block prints to complete the look. Mainly using hues of pastels in pink and blue, the designer had also used accents of candy pink and neon, as well as black and white. Key trends highlighted in this collection were a variety of short and long shirts, ‘boyfriend’ cut blazers, ponchos, and tapered cut pants. Check out her complete collection below!

Ittehad Textiles Collection at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013 Day 2

The Voile Show segment of the second day of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013 was opened by Ittehad Textiles who showcased a spring/summer collection which comprised of four unique segments. Each segment drew inspiration from a different culture and era that varied from florals and English culture to classic Audrey Hepburn and a touch of ethnic funks. The collection was derived from fabrics like lawn, chiffons and silks that incorporated cuts like A-line, flowy gowns, straight pants and jump suits upon which embroidery, tilla work and lace work that had been adjusted. The diverse color palette chiefly made use of pastels and whites, featuring trendy women’s wear with four menswear pieces as well. Day 1’s finale was presented by acclaimed couturier Maria B who presented her Spring/Summer collection for PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013 titled ‘The Sunshine Collection’ inspired by happiness, joy, innocence and youth. The color palette featured bright candy colors in hues of corals, pinks, tangerine with hints of aqua marine and lemon yellows which had been used to come out with a clean silhouette combined with flattering volumes. The emphasis was on bold prints and asymmetric, modern patterns that formed the soul of the collection had been designed using pure cottons, Khaddars and hand printed silks and hints of embellishments and high – impact wearable accessories. Sublime by Sara at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013 Day 1

Act 2 was opened by Sublime by Sara at the first day of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013, who presented her collection titled ‘NOW, Summer Sublime 2013’, inspired by designer Sara Shahid’s belief in the importance of living for the here and now – a desire to live for the moment. With ‘NOW! Summer Sublime 2013’ the designer invited audiences to step into a world of bright and bold colors, showcasing a heady mix and balance of femininity and funk, the loud with the soft and the neons with the neutrals. Trends included in this collection ranged from neon references, stud embellishments, floral and striped prints to cropped jackets and pants. A brand minimalist by nature, Sara Shahid’s structural emphasis for ‘NOW! Summer Sublime 2013’ remained on tailored cuts and drape, resting on the brands ethos of the power of understated glamour. FnkAsia Pret Collection at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013 Day 1

Design label FnkAsia presented the third prét show on the 1st day of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013, with their “East of Bengal” collection inspired by the lush rain-forests, tree plantations and ancient culture of Bengal. The central silhouette of the collection was the sari, which had been reconstructed to make it look less tribal and more like a modern garment. A lot of silk, draped in layers, was used in diverse weaves to retain sheen, essential for a luxe feel. The collection also had splashes of intense prints blending into the bright palette. Embroideries and beaded embellishment, a symbol of the FnkAsia signature, had been emphasized within blouses and bustiers. The colors used for the collection were inspired by the Bengali forest’s foliage and wild life; the palette blended shades of sap green and rainwater blue towards murjaan (coral) and sindhoori laal (vermillion) that represented the early morning, blazing sun.
