Mehwish Hayat was the Showstopper for Sana Abbas

[Press Release, Karachi] The last day of Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2013 Karachi opened yesterday to a packed house with the decor once again changed, boasting white umbrellas hanging over the ramp and from the roof over the audience’s heads, enhancing the white backdrop, and new motifs on the ramp. Sana Abbas opened the show with her elegant bridal line in pastel colors and striking combinations. Her showstopper was donned by Mehwish Hayat. Nadya Mistry showcased an ultra-modern and funky bridal line. Her showstoppers were donned by Madiha Iftikhar, Amna Malik and Tipu. A star-studded and lively performance by BodyBeat Productions followed, featuring Hasan Rizvi himself, and stars such as Anoushay Ashraf, Kiran Khan, Sohai, Uroosa, Waqar, Hina Bayat and Tipu, which left the audience clapping and hooting in high spirits. Mifrah followed with her impressive and sophisticated bridal collection. Her showstoppers were donned by Faisal Qureshi, Aijaz Aslam and Amber Khan.

HUM Network held its Servis 1st HUM Awards here yesterday at Karachi Expo Centre, an event that will be remembered for a long time as a star-studded, entertainment-packed, brilliantly executed and heart-warming one. Held to acknowledge and honor all those in the entertainment industry who have been a pillar of support to HUM in its eight-year long journey of success, the event was very well-received by all who attended.

Right from the word go the tempo was set with the red carpet area welcoming the guests and the glitterati and mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres being passed around.

As guests entered the performance area to be seated they were spellbound by the awe-inspiring, massive, and beautifully decorated and lit stage. Hardly had they got over their surprise that the opening act was announced which featured the inimitable Abida Parveen.

Mikaal Zulfiqar and Mahira Khan then came in to host the first segment which was of Music Awards. Anwar Maqsood was the very apt choice to present the Lifetime Achievement Award which went out posthumously to Moin Akhtar. The next performance to enthrall audiences was by Humayun Saeed and troupe who performed a premiere dance from his film Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi. This was followed by Mikaal and Mahira announcing the next category of awards which were of fashion. Much to everyone’s delight LED Butterflies performed next with their light-studded outfits literally lighting up the stage, and marking the entry for the next award segment which was of Special Recognition Awards, hosted by Bushra Ansari.

Synopsis

The story revolves around Somi, the daughter of Bilal and Najia who live happily together. Somi’s family is very close to that of her khala’s and there is a tacit understanding that she will marry her cousin Asad. But Somi falls in love with Shahzaib on the internet. Although all the family members are shocked, they go along with her for her happiness. However fate intervenes, and Shahzaib dies in an accident. To get over her depression Somi goes to Murree to spend some quiet days there, and again fate intervenes, bringing her face-to-face with a look alike of Shahzaib. Will she find happiness with him, or does fate have yet more surprises in store for Somi?
