Last designer to showcase on the ramp of first day at Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2012 Lahore eidtion was Kuki Concepts. Zahid Khan is the incredible genius behind Kuki Concepts, a collection of western and eastern wear that is dreamy and lyrical. The fabric used for women’s wear is mostly Chantilly lace and chamois with touches of bling. Kuki Concepts has held 50 showings from Pakistan to the US and England. The show came to a vibrant and impressive end with the rich and heavily worked collection by Kuki Concepts. Highly appreciated by the full house audience present at the venue. The duo of Asifa & Nabeel was the sixth designer on the ramp for the day 1 of Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2012 Lahore edition. The label Asifa & Nabeel was established 13 years ago and is renowned and respected for its bridal, prêt and couture lines. Asifa & Nabeel adopts a simple viewpoint that translates very dominantly in its design interpretations “the celebration of womanhood”. The designer duo showcased pretty much the same collection as they did at PLBW 2012. However, some heavy bridals were pure classic and the models carried them out perfectly. Before the closing of first segment at Pantene Bridal Couture Week 2012 Lahore edition, renowned designer Maria B presented her “Ara Collection” on the 1st day. Maria B. is one of the largest manufacturers and retailers of women’s fashion in Pakistan. Her eponymous brand was launched with a vision to revolutionize women’s retail in the country and to create Pakistan’s first women’s fashion brand. Her collection was impressive yet could have been better. Few hits and misses, to go with eye catching angarkha that Nadia Hussain modeled. In 2006, she launched her pret line which is now available worldwide. She showcased a sizzling collection on the ramp consisting of traditional embroideries and vibrant colors. The final show of PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2012 was by HSY with his bridal collection titled ‘City of Gardens’ inspired by the inner city of Lahore, renowned as the City of Gardens. A city submerged in history and culture with every wall, every house, every street having its own story, with City of Gardens, HSY endeavored to portray this richness in his collection highlighting the colors and heritage of Lahore. With both women’s wear and menswear pieces in the collection, HSY worked in pure fabrics such as chiffons, silks, raw silks and organza’s, pairing these with embroideries from different regions across Pakistan. With simple and traditional cuts complimenting every body type, HSY used fun and bright colors ranging from yellow and orange to red, magenta and purple for the City of Gardens. Next solo show of day 4 at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2012 was by Saai with her bridal collection entitled ‘Sliver’. Flaunting contemporary cutwork techniques along with hints of the rural craft of tarkashi from Southern Punjab, the collection merged the opaqueness and transparency of tantalizing fabric textures. The collection brought together tradition and modernity tied in with Saai’s love for experimental silhouettes. With fabrics such as chiffons with tarkashi used in this collection to create unique surface textures along with fluid nets with dusts of sequins, the collection was hand embroidered with a colour palette ranging from white and silver complemented by sharp contrasting magentas, purples and shades of reds along with the paler hues of peach, mint green and pale gold.
