The 3rd and last day of Fashion Pakistan Week 2012 (FPW 4) was opened by Maheen Karim. Maheen Karim’s ‘Luxe’ collection fuses military chic together with luxury oriental accents in the form of exquisite hand embroideries and ritzy silks. Plush velvet’s appliqued on to glossy Georgettes and shaded chiffons make for an extremely stylish winter wardrobe. Clean-cut tailored suits, form-fitting chic cropped trousers, as well as silk-draped harem pants, paired with military jackets and lace-draped boleros. The color palette brings together wintery plums, gilded black, bronze, gold, deep maroons, vibrant olives, mustard and magenta. Each motif is hand embroidered and Swarovski crystals are used. The collection was complimented by handbags from Ayesha Mustafa’s Fashion Compassion and the jewelry is Kiran Aman’s Sceptre’s Of Beauty, which is inspired by a woman’s innate desire to Conceal, Protect and Provoke. The grand finale of the second day of Fashion Pakistan Week 2012 (FPW 4) was presented by Adnan Pardesy. Adnan Pardesy’s Fall/Winter collection 2012 “Axiomatic” redefines the craft of ‘ ralli ’ and brings a unique perspective to modern day couture. Axiomatic employs various hand-crafted techniques such as weaving, cross-pleating and gathering of ribbons and fabrics, amalgamating them visually, in a non-contradictory fashion, to create an unquestionable style statement. Adnan Pardesy’s collection was complimented by Kiran Aman’s Jewelry collection Barzakh from her label ‘So KFJ’ . Barzakh, with its bold and solid black onyx projections, accentuated by the simple use of 22 karat beaten gold accents, dividing each solid shape symmetrically, comes together as a contradiction to Pardesy’s colorful merge of techniques. Well stitched structure & amazing cuts is a trademark of young Zaheer Abbas design style. He opened the second segment at Fashion Pakistan Week 2012 (FPW 4) Day 2. A depiction of purity and sheer simplicity, Zaheer Abbas is back to where it began at Fashion Pakistan Week, with his collection – “Virgin in white”, primarily using cotton with touches of feminine net and intricate jute thread designs. Symbolizing the transition from romance to desire, the blossoming of love and the formation of identity. There was perfection in his collection that we lacked in collections showcased on the first day. Models were draped in white ivory dresses with straw hats, giving justice to the collection “Virgin”. In this collection, the imprint of Chitral meets the block-print of Sindh and Punjab. It is a melange of dori and leather detailing, with fabric folding techniques, that makes for a unique combination. Embodying the true spirit of a woman with contemporary, cosmopolitan flair.
